First time hearing about veneajelu – is it really as peaceful as people say?
I only recently came across the word veneajelu while reading about Finland, and it caught my attention because it doesn’t sound like a typical tourist activity. From what I understand, it’s simply going out on the water in a boat, but the way people describe it makes it feel more like a mindset than an experience you “book.”
What I find interesting is that veneajelu seems to be less about where you go and more about how you spend the time. No rush, no loud crowds, just quiet water and scenery. That’s very different from most travel activities I’ve done, which are usually packed into tight schedules.
For someone visiting Finland for the first time, does veneajelu live up to that calm image? Or is it one of those things that sounds magical but depends heavily on weather, timing, and location?
